Day 05 – Favourite Item(s) in Game

This post is part of Saga’s 20 Days of WoW Blogging Challenge!

Oh geez. My favourite items in the game?

My bank is littered with mementos. Stacked full of memories. Here are a few of the things I hang on to because of the memories attached to them.

There’s my Royal Seal of Eldre’Thalas, which I loved because, at the time, it was a great trinket AND it was the name of “my” server.

There’s the Briarwood Reed, which I got on my paladin, even though, at the time, it was +damage/healing. I loved it because it was still an upgrade for poor little Madrana but also because I snagged it from this one guy’s mage alt. And just the satisfaction of knowing I outrolled him on it is totally worth it. (I really didn’t, and still don’t, like that guy.)

Of course, there’s the Rhok’delar and Lok’delar, too.

And I can’t forget about the Lightforge Spaulders, which actually made me feel like a real paladin, when I first equipped them. Similarly, Lightbringer Pauldrons look bad-ass.

Happy Fun Rock and I had a bunch of good times together back in Dire Maul.

And then there’s Zod’s Repeating Longbow, which I got about 11 months ago, after drooling over it for several months.

But I think that my favourite items are really things that no longer really exist. Keys. I’m talking about dungeon keys. Most keys no longer exist, but, by golly, I had all of them on Kurn. Except the Arcatraz. And screw Arcatraz. I had the Scarlet Key (SM and Strat Live), the Key to the City (Strat Undead), the Crescent Key (Dire Maul), the Skeleton Key (Scholomance), the Shadowforge Key (BRD) and more. I LOVED getting keys. And I remember a time when you didn’t HAVE a keychain and you’d make it alllllll the way up to Strat Live or Scholomance and someone didn’t HAVE the key because it was in their bank.

Relatedly, though, I do still love my Blessed Medallion of Karabor.

(Also, totally unrelated, Episode 15 of Blessing of Frost came out Tuesday!)

New Episode of Blessing of Frost!

A new episode of Blessing of Frost is up and ready for you to listen to on this maintenance morning! Head on over and listen to Majik, myself and Dayden, the tank officer of Apotheosis, discuss Blackwing Descent bosses, Dayden’s vacation in the Dominican Republic (along with all the alcohol he drank) and find out why a lowbie pug thought Majik spoke nothing but Spanish…

All available for you here: http://www.blessingoffrost.com/episode-14-back-in-blackwing

(Thanks to the four people who informed me I used the wrong link.)

Blessing of Frost Pimpage, Short Update

Episode 11 of Blessing of Frost is live! Go check it out at BlessingOfFrost.com! Our special guest this week is Stoneybaby of the guild Big Crits and our topic is raid progression.

We also got a new iTunes feed and the new episodes will be added shortly after they’re up on the website, so subscribe to the Blessing of Frost feed and rate us up! If a Tuesday goes by and you don’t see a new episode, hit up the website to be sure you don’t miss a single ep. :)

In other news…

Yup, Nefarian to 22% on Sunday night. A couple of hiccups here and there, but there’s definite progress happening. We’re engaged in a bit of an amusing (and very informal) “who can kill him first?” battle with Conquest of Ner’zhul, the guild that THEEEEE Matticus heads up. They’re a good 12 pulls ahead of us, best as I can figure, and wiped on him at 4% tonight and are going back in tomorrow. That gives us at least 13 attempts to tie them, if they get him down on the first attempt tomorrow. I think we can do that.

It means nothing, of course, but it’s fun to engage in a bit of inter-guild competition since there’s very little 25-man competition going on over on Eldre’Thalas these days. I’m fairly certain that Epic Again, the #1 25-man guild on the server, is 12/12 regular modes by now and Free At Last was 10/12 before they split into two 10-man teams, so that makes Apotheosis the #2 active 25-man guild on the server. The nearest “competition” to us is a Horde guild that seems to be 6/12, so… yeah.

Speaking of the ol’ guild, Apotheosis is still looking for non-cloth-wearing casters! Moonkins and elemental shaman, this means you! Apply today, would you? ;) Also looking at resto druids, probably all good on resto shaman, definitely full on priests, warlocks, mages, death knights and not seeking tanks at this time. Feel free to email me at kurn [at] apotheosis-now [dot] com if you’re interested in applying and you have any questions. I’ll be happy to answer you. :)

In the meantime, if you’re a holy paladin, check out the Alliance guild Choice of Skywall or the Horde guild Big Crits of Sen’jin as both are looking for good holy paladins!

Lame update, I know.

Anyways, this is going up at about 9am ET (I love setting a future publishing time) so a bunch of people see the post while maintenance is still going on and I’m still asleep. ;) Have a great day and enjoy the latest Blessing of Frost episode!

Blessing of Frost and Recruitment!

So we just launched blessingoffrost.com, which is our new website for the Blessing of Frost podcast, strangely enough! A weekly (well, most weeks) podcast featuring me and my buddy Majik along with a special guest. Guests so far have included my brother (and one of our tanks) Fog, our tank lead Dayden, Oestrus/Obscene, Darista, Fugara (my former GM from when I was in Choice – holy pallies, do me a solid if you’re looking for a guild and go app there!) and our latest guest is Dahrla, a shadow priest in Apotheosis. So head over there and listen to Episode 8!

In other news, Apotheosis is definitely still seeking a restoration shaman, a restoration druid and a moonkin! Would also consider an elemental shaman. Basically, caster DPS that don’t wear cloth. So check out our guild site and apply now. You can always ask me questions on twitter (@kurnmogh) or via email: kurn [at] apotheosis-now [dot] com.

Paladin stuff forthcoming, eventually, I’m sure. :)

Tuesday Terrific-ness

Here’s some random news!

1) A commenter named Imak pointed out the flaw in my math/gem selection in my meta gem post from a couple of weeks ago. I double-checked the math and gem selection today (since I finally had a few free minutes!) and have edited the post. It doesn’t change the post substantially, nor does it alter my choice to want to try out the Revitalizing Shadowspirit Diamond, but my math on the Bracing and Revitalizing was wrong. I was thinking of the old green cut that was intellect/spirit instead of spirit/mastery, but basically thought the gem was intellect/mastery. It’s actually spirit/mastery. Whoopsiedoodle. So that’s fixed. Thanks again to Imak for pointing out my error and I’m sorry it took me forever to actually fix it!

2) Episode 4 of Blessing of Frost is out, guest-starring the tank officer of Apotheosis, Dayden. It comes in at a massive 95 minutes (!) and I assure everyone that our aim is no more than 1h15m for most podcasts. We’ve just had a lot to cover and we’re still finding our rhythm. Anyways, go listen and rate us up on iTunes if you like the show! :)

3) Madrana’s at 84 and 16%. Gotta finish up Deepholm and then go to Uldum to start Ramkahen rep. I’m really looking forward to dungeoning with the guildies, both normals and heroics. (I may be horrified at the possibility of heroic Stonecore, mind you.)

4) I was horrified to learn that the top guild on Eldre’Thalas, the Horde guild Echelon, is already 3/12. Gah. Time to get our asses in gear, even on 10-man. I’ve set up an unofficial 10-man raid for next Tuesday and I don’t even know WHERE we’ll go, but chances are we’ll try out Baradin Hold (is that even the name of it?!) and maybe play in Blackwing Descent. Time to make a splash!

And on that note, I should spend the next while before realms come back up studying strats for various entry-level bosses…

Super secret project revealed!

My buddy Majik and I have been working on something for a couple of weeks now and finally got it all together on Monday afternoon. At 6:30am on Tuesday morning, it was ready to be revealed to the world.

We’ve started a podcast. It’s called Blessing of Frost and it can be accessed here at the Apotheosis guild page.

We’d love your comments and feedback, so be sure to post over on the Blessing of Frost post or email us at blessingoffrost [at] apotheosis-now [dot] com!
