Once upon a time, there was a guild named Fated Heroes. Founded shortly after the Eldre'Thalas server came online in February of 2005, Fated Heroes was primarily a social guild that focused on levelling and fun.

On January 3rd, 2007, shortly before The Burning Crusade launched, Fated Heroes disbanded. Their accomplishments: ZG clear, 3/6 AQ20 and spawning Majordomo in Molten Core. Given that they'd only begun raiding at all on April 1st, 2006, and they only ever had one full 40-man raid in MC (the rest of their many raids were usually undermanned by 5-10 people), it wasn't too bad. They'd gone beyond most people's expectations.

Many of their members scattered; some joined other guilds on Eldre'Thalas, some changed servers, some quit playing.

A chunk of them wound up in a guild named Chillin, created by former Fated Heroes officers Kut and Thefog, as a guild to chill in before BC came out and everyone started the levelling process over again.

Caledor, Creet, Daey, Darista, Darkguido, Davidstorm, Droront, Frozt, Grimnaw, Hulkdwarf, Huntertoga, Ieth, Kamilla, Karsomaric, Kellic, Kylon, Magiribeye, Majikmarine, Natasti, Netsuge, Palantir, Renzik, Rutan, Sephden, Shadowcry, Sulthos, Tandrace, Tankdwarf, Terex, Tharivol, Vaclav, Vidalya and Warukaiu joined Kut and Fog in Chillin and waited for BC to come out.

The other bastion of Fated Heroes members was located in the guild Phoenix, whose GM, Logwyn, had previously been the GM of Fated Heroes until his unexpected departure to form Phoenix in September of 2006.

And still, some former FHers wandered around, unguilded, for quite some time. Former officers Cryptkikr, Kurnmogh and Tiandrina were either unguilded or in a placeholder guild, wondering what BC would bring for them.

Tiandrina joined Epic Again, along with former FH officer Fodder and another FHer, Grogg.

Kurn kept her hunter in a placeholder guild as she decided to see what raiding on her holy paladin would be like, and joined Skull as Madrana once she hit 70.

Those interested in raiding from Chillin moved to Kindred, a guild formed by former FHers Faceoff and Catriani.

Time went by. Mains and alts dinged 70 across Eldre'Thalas. People got epic flying mounts, usually funded by loans that got paid back over a long period of time. Cryptkikr joined Kindred and was part of a kick-ass Kara team consisting entirely of former FH members. Kurn was learning how to heal as a paladin and was constantly being called "Mad" by her new guild.

By mid-April, things weren't going well for some people. The Chillin folks in Kindred had been made to split up their successful team in the hopes of bringing success to two Kara teams, which didn't work out very well at all. Crypt left Kindred and joined Amnesty. The vast majority of Kurn's Kara team in Skull had moved to Untouchables shortly after her team had done the Chess event once and attempted Aran once. And so people began to talk about getting some of the old crew back together.

By the middle of May, most of the Chillin folks from Kindred and Kurn's characters were sitting in Ashen Order of Bogardan, Majikmarine's old guild that dated back to December of '05, that he'd kept active even during his time in Fated Heroes, Chillin and Kindred.

We gathered under the AOoB tag and made a kick-ass Kara team and went through, obliterating the instance, even downing Prince Malchezaar.

But we knew that we needed to come up with our own guild name, our own tabard, our own identity. Many of us still felt as if we were still "those Fated Heroes people".

So at the end of May, we held an officer meeting and chatted. Various names had been tossed around, like Severence, Redemption and other forgettable names. Palantir, our most notable warlock at the time, had just had his wisdom teeth taken out and was on a considerable amount of painkillers. And suggested Apotheosis.

On June 1st, Majikmarine transferred control of AOoB to an alt and we /gquit in droves. He grabbed a guild charter for Apotheosis and we tracked down Cryptkikr, who had recently left Amnesty, and surrounded him in the Ironforge Auction House. He saw us all waving and cheering at him and was the first signature on the guild charter.

A guild was born.

A vote was taken by the officers and Huntertoga became the Guild Master. Thus began our journey, our elevation to transcendence.

Apotheosis downing Prince for the first time as a guild.

June 11th, 2007: Nightbane down, Karazhan clear. At this point in time, only two people in the entire guild could summon Nightbane -- Palantir and Slovotsky (Fog).

Proof that we need a shaman. I should so not get a shield like that.

June 16th, 2007: Pre-made WSG with 8 members of Apotheosis with Palantir and Netsuge leading the way.

July 17th, 2007: Our first time in Gruul's Lair. We clearly have ZERO IDEA of how to stack groups. I mean, ZERO. The moonkin in with the tank? Two feral druids in the same group? The resto shammy in with a warrior and a rogue? Gah.

Our first look at Maulgar. (click for a larger version)

Our first piece of loot in Gruul's Lair, gained as we RE-CLEARED to Maulgar.

Our second-ever wipe on Maulgar. Oh, the carnage. (click for a larger version)

Toga kills us all by screwing up on the pulls towards Opera and getting an extra group as well as the pat. Boxx dances from the safety of his DI, courtesy of Hulkdwarf. This Kara team was known as Team Melee DPS, or, Team Who Needs Mages? <3

September 2nd, 2007: High King Maulgar down.

Crypt rolls low, as per usual. Findric gets the first set of T4 shoulders in the guild.

Kurn's UI. Not much of an improvement from the Xperl stuff. But hey, it shows all the raid members present for that first Maulgar kill.

September 4th, 2007: Gruul to 30%.

September 9th, 2007: Gruul to 6%.

Kurn has, however, switched to Grid.

Later that same night, Gruul to 4%.

September 10th, 2007: Unscheduled raid night where enough people showed up wanting to kill Gruul. 3%.

September 11th, 2007: Gruul down, Gruul's Lair cleared. (click for a larger version)

First Gruul loot.

September 12th, 2007: Some screwing around in good ol' Zul'Gurub.

September 16th, 2007: Magtheridon to 87%.

September 23rd, 2007: Magtheridon to 67%.

Of course, guild chat is always amusing. (October 4th, 2007)

October 9th, 2007: Cryptkikr not only outrolls someone for his T4 shoulders... but he rolls a 100. Note the raid's incredulous reaction.

October 9th, 2007: On the very next piece of loot, Anta beats out Fusion... with another 100.

October 9th, 2007: Of course, Fusion did end up winning his pants. With a four.

October 14th, 2007: Magtheridon down, Mag's Lair cleared. (click for a larger version)

October 18th, 2007: Toga, Tia and I are up late and decide to go three-man the brand-new Headless Horseman event in Scarlet Monastery. HH DOWN! GUILD FIRST! WOOT!

October 18th, 2007: Phat lewtz.

October 18th, 2007: OMG, I am Jack Pumpkinhead!

October 18th, 2007: Toga on his broom, Tia as a leper gnome and me, all with pumpkinheads.

October 24th, 2007: After a raid, some of us decide to go tip-toe around SSC and see if we can kill anything. We made it to Hydross. (click for larger version)

October 24th, 2007: Note our UTTER confusion at the spawns... and someone pulling Hydross. First Hydross wipe, wooHOO!

November 4th, 2007: Sephden as a gnome. Brewfest goggles are fun.

November 14th, 2007: Nalorakk down. Majik spearheads the charge against Zul'Aman.

November 19th, 2007: Hydross down. All that farming for resist gear pays off!

November 19th, 2007: Lurker wipe after 2m49s. Impressive. :P Toga's reaction is pretty much how all the officers felt. How is THIS guy easier than Hydross?

November 27th, 2007: Arena Season 2 ends...

November 27th, 2007: ... and steals some of our cool titles. <pout>

November 25th, 2007: Akil'zon down. Majik's team gets that bastard down.

December 2nd, 2007: The Lurker Below down. Enough people realized that yes, Spout can kill them! ;)

December 7th, 2007: Apotheosis wtfpwns Silvermoon City.

December 10th, 2007: The first recorded incident of someone forgetting to unequip their fishing pole.

December 10th, 2007: And the subsequent laughter.

December 10th, 2007: We did eventually down him, though. Messiest. Kill. Ever.

January 5th, 2008: What all the mobs in Black Morass look like after Antagonizing has rounded them all up and they were AOEed down.

January 10th, 2007: Apotheosis' first raid to look at Void Reaver. One... warlock. Yeah, trash was very, very ugly.

January 14th, 2008: Our first night on Leotheras. 44%.

January 27th, 2008: Tankdwarf terrorizes IF as a tauren on a mechanostrider.

January 27th, 2007: Later that night, we down VR for the first time.

February 4th, 2008: Doom Lord Kazzak AND Doomwalker, both down to Apotheosis. Great team efforts. (click the bottom one for a larger version)

February 4th, 2008: Majik's UI on Loneewolf, on his way to Doomwalker. Clearly, he is not used to raid healing.

February 10th, 2008: Eldre'Thalas decides to lag a lot and then kick everyone off and go offline. We decide to go invade Blackrock and form a Level 1 raid on Hogger.

February 10th, 2008: In order of groups, from top of the group list to the bottom: Kamilla, Criza, Shamalah, Net, Kurn, Tharivol, Terex, either Sephden or Majik, Boxx, Naomina, Sinaeris, ??, either Sephden or Majik, Warthon and Fusionsnake. More screenies here, courtesy of Naomina. :)

February 17th, 2008: Leotheras the Blind down after far too many heartbreaking 1% wipes.

March 16th, 2008: The first night we actually got around to DPSing Karathress.

March 26th, 2008: 2.4 is out and people have discovered they can now link their abilities. Eesh. :)

April 1st, 2008: Fathom-Lord Karathress down. The tabard has a distinctively Canadian feel to it. (Red tabard, white leaf.) And we down a new boss? Coincidence? I THINK NOT.

April 13th, 2008: Really, our rolls suck.

April 13th, 2008: So, yeah, even when the server lags... Vashj doesn't. Ouch, poor Sham!

May 29th, 2008: We watch as Thrall takes Kaz'rogal to 10%.

May 29th, 2008: Kaz'rogal down. Uh, yeah. Hi, I thought we were in T6 content, now?

And that was just the first year, bringing us up to June 1st, 2008. The very next day, June 2nd, Vashj died for first time. It promises to be a great second year for Apotheosis.

We would not be where we are right now if it weren't for every single person who joined us on our way. Everyone who has had the Apotheosis tag under their name made a contribution and deserves that recognition. Thank you to all our former members and especially to all our current members for sticking with us through the good times and the bad and for having faith in us as a group.

And a special thanks to all the officers who have served the guild over the last year. Bregalad (Kaiu), Netsuge, Slovotsky (Fog), Palantir, Majikmarine, Cryptkikr, Fusionsnake, Terex, Daey, Opus, Magiribeye (Ribs), Dayden and most especially Toga, who served as GM of the guild from June 1st, 2007 until January 16th, 2008, which is when I (Kurn) became GM. Thank you to all of you for helping to form and run this guild. We couldn't have accomplished a damn thing without everyone's help, input, arguments and insight. :)

And what have we accomplished? Apart from the fun times documented above, think about this. Only 16.90% of over 57,000 guilds in the world have downed Lady Vashj. Only 16.44% have downed Kaz'rogal. Only 17.53% have downed Naj'entus. And we're one of those guilds, guys.

Stick around. There's lots more to come.

Kurnmogh
