I’m trying to make sense of what the hell happened yesterday in my guild by writing it all out here. It was like a perfect storm of … I wouldn’t even call it drama, but shall we say conflict and discontent. This is a long-ass post, about an Annoying!Priest, a Failadin and some<\/span> lots of my own bitching.<\/p>\n

It began when I logged on shortly before raid time and I saw Annoying!Priest log in to the healing channel, but didn’t see him log into guild. And someone in the healing channel asked him about it. Names changed, but this is directly from my screenshots. (I swear, if my screenshots are not of achievements, it’s of “important” discussions in-game.)<\/p>\n

Annoying!Priest: i’ve been kicked from guild

\nAnnoying!Priest: i figured, [mage app\/Annoying!Priest’s wife] had it as a recruit so i would get it too right?

So my RL friend and I are discussing this in our private channel. Apparently, she’d had many forum messages back and forth with the priest and the raid leader about the GM’s actions this evening.<\/p>\n

And then she says, in our private channel, that she’s logging.<\/p>\n

She logs on as a bank alt and apologizes to me, but apparently, the raid leader just chewed her out.<\/p>\n

“[GM] would never have kicked him if you hadn’t given him the impression that it was okay.”<\/p>\n

What?! She wasn’t even ON! Sure, I hate Annoying!Priest and so does my RL friend. We’d both like to end his trial (which has been extended due to the fact that he had real-life obligations that precluded raiding) and we complain about him to the raid leader all the time…<\/p>\n

But somehow, it’s my RL friend’s FAULT that the GM is more than occasionally impulsive and throws people out of the guild for breathing too loudly? (I am only moderately exaggerating.)<\/p>\n

So she logged, rather than say something to the raid leader\/officers that she would regret.<\/p>\n

She told me how the raid leader was blaming her for the GM’s actions and I was like “Can I gquit?” and she just went:<\/p>\n

So I said “Fine, I’ll stay, but I’m not doing healing tonight!”<\/p>\n

“That’s fine,” she replied, “let [raid leader] do it.”<\/p>\n

“Okay!”<\/p>\n

So shortly after she logs off from her bank alt, I whisper the raid leader:<\/p>\n

“I’ve got a killer headache and was not expecting to do healing. If [RL friend] doesn’t come back, I’m not going to be able to do it tonight.”<\/p>\n

“k i’ll do it i guess”<\/p>\n

I wasn’t lying entirely — I get sinus headaches fairly regularly and had the makings of one last night, since there was a storm brewing. But was I being petty? Yes. Was I being a team player? No. Is this remotely like me? Absolutely not. There was just something about last night that was bringing out the worst in everyone, including me.<\/p>\n

Anyways, when it came to healing, the raid leader did it WRONG. If he’d paid any attention to the healer channel over the last four months, he would know how to do it properly.<\/p>\n

But let’s go back a bit, before he starts doing healing assignments.<\/p>\n

With my RL friend out for the night, they re-invited Annoying!Priest to the guild and to the raid. They ALSO invited… FAILADIN.<\/p>\n

Insert smashing head on desk here.<\/p>\n

The guy does NOT shut the fuck up. About loot. It’s ALWAYS “loot this”, “loot that” and “awww i never get loot!”. It is, literally, his second raid with us, given the ICC glitch on Thursday and the cancellation on Sunday due to having all of one tank online.<\/p>\n

Because the raid leader invited Failadin, who had never done heroic Dreamwalker with us before, I started talking to the nubcake in the pally channel, expounding on the directions from the raid leader in the healing channel. Such things included:<\/p>\n

“Stand at the head of the dragon, that’s 6 o’clock as you’re facing her, and take the portals that spawn closest to there.”<\/p>\n

“Go counter-clockwise inside the portals. Grab your first orb, then look around and WAIT for people before you pop others.”<\/p>\n

The other four of us portal healers all knew how to do things, as usual, so I figured that even if Failadin screwed up, we’d pull through.<\/p>\n

WRONG.<\/p>\n

Try 1:<\/p>\n

Good!Holy Pally at 8 o’clock, Failadin at 6 o’clock and me at 4 o’clock, with the shammies at 10 and 2.<\/p>\n

At one point, I realize Failadin is standing RIGHT NEXT TO ME.<\/p>\n

Oh my God. Oh my God, wait, I have no idea if he beaconed Dreamwalker and healed himself or what! <runs to upload a log><\/p>\n

OH MY GOD. \/facepalm doesn’t even begin to describe it.<\/p>\n

Good!Holy Pally: 1015050 from Glyph of Holy Light<\/p>\n

Failadin: 11022 from Glyph of Holy Light<\/p>\n

I’m totally getting ahead of myself.<\/p>\n

So I realize that Failadin is standing RIGHT NEXT to me at about 4 o’clock. And I run up to stand on my portal… and HE TAKES MY PORTAL.<\/p>\n

That’s right. He ninjaed my goddamn portal. At 4 o’clock. There were two over at, say, 7 o’clock. I couldn’t make it in time, so I missed my portal and dropped my stacks. Thanks, asshat.<\/p>\n

And he does it AGAIN a little later on!<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the good holy paladin has disconnected and I have no stacks and OH LOOK, heroism time! So I blow everything I can and we get her to 96% and can’t get her any higher due to all the damage she takes on heroic.<\/p>\n

And now, looking at the logs, I discover that he actually just spammed Holy Light on the dragon. Not on himself (and no, we don’t use a pet technique), but directly healing the dragon. With his beacon on the tank. Sigh.<\/p>\n

So, is that a failure of the raid leader or is it my failure? I probably should have gone over it briefly, but I wasn’t in the most helpful mood, given the issues with Annoying!Priest, my RL friend, the GM and the raid leader. And I honestly didn’t think that he would use a “technique” that most paladins haven’t used since like, week two of the Frostwing Halls.<\/p>\n

Moving on to Try 2:<\/p>\n

Failadin died. What’s more, after examining the logs, he lied to me. He said he died with 7 stacks because of a Lay Waste<\/a>. Yeah, his death log?<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, I missed the heroism call for some reason, which I noticed immediately when I entered the portals and realized I had all the orbs to myself. I was definitely not in a good mood and more than a little distracted, obviously.<\/p>\n

Then, I did something I am not particularly proud of.<\/p>\n

Boots of the Funeral March<\/a> dropped.<\/p>\n

Members were asked for their bids, as per usual.<\/p>\n

Because me and the good holy pally are not dumbasses, we did not bid. Those are crappy boots as they have no haste.<\/p>\n

So when bids opened up for recruits\/apps… I knew Failadin would bid.<\/p>\n

After spending as much time as I have in the last few days listening to him talk about loot, loot, gearscore, loot, gearscore, LOOT and more fucking loot, I put in a late bid for the boots.<\/p>\n

Grats me.<\/p>\n

And then I made a point of saying in pally chat that they were going to be a nice addition to my Dreamwalker\/spellpower set.<\/p>\n

Because apparently, I was in a bitchy mood last night. I bid on those boots specifically because I did not want Failadin to get them. What difference would it have made if he’d have gotten them? None, really. But I took them because I strongly feel that if some dipshit comes into a guild that is 11\/12 HM when he is 4\/12 HM or something and ALL HE DOES IS BITCH ABOUT LOOT, then, by golly, he isn’t going to GET any loot. Not on my watch.<\/p>\n

So with Dreamwalker down, we swap out Failadin for our guild master\/main tank and we head over to beat our heads against the Heroic Sindragosa wall again. We’ve killed her once and that was… two or three resets ago.<\/p>\n

Things are going poorly. We basically failed eight times, many of those times pretty spectacularly. Hey DPS? STOP BREAKING TOMBS EARLY, YOU DUMBSHITS. Hey caster DPS? STOP CASTING IN PHASE 2.<\/p>\n

So we finally decided to do it normal mode, so we’d have time to do Lich King. Again, DIRECTLY from my screenshots:<\/p>\n

MT: last heroic attempt, a few people need the all you can eat achieve

\nFailadin: if you guys dont do it heroic I was wondering if I could step in for a token
\nFailadin: if no one needs
\nRogue: yea i can sit

And THEN, in guild (which Failadin doesn’t see as he hasn’t been extended an invitation yet):<\/p>\n

MT: whoever gets a competant healer to app ill give you 15k of my own gold
\nMT: 25k if they dont ask for loot<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

!!!!!<\/p>\n

Even if he was just talking about Failadin, he just stated that none of the healers are competant. And now I have to go in there and heal his stupid ass?!<\/p>\n

I never do this, but I nearly pulled out my ethernet cord. I was sorely tempted.<\/p>\n

Fuck, I was pissed off. I still am.<\/p>\n

So we do NOT swap in Failadin and kill her and go up to do Lich King on normal, but again doing Been Waiting a Long Time for This<\/a>.<\/p>\n

One holy paladin, one disc priest, one holy priest, one resto druid, two resto shammies, one of the shammies being the raid leader on his healer alt (normally he’s a shadow priest).<\/p>\n

First attempt, the only hunter in the raid dies, so there goes tranq shot and the OT gets ruined by an enraged shambling horror. Nothing we can really do about that death, from a healer POV.<\/p>\n

Second attempt, the main tank dies at about the three-minute mark. Why? Something to do with the fact that he’s taking hits that look like this:<\/p>\n

And I had basically no help from any direct healers. And was running oom, with DP on cooldown. Dead tank.<\/p>\n

Same thing on Try 3.<\/p>\n

It’s now 1:56am. Raid is supposed to end at two. I tell the raid leader this is my last attempt.<\/p>\n

He asks me to give it one more attempt at this achievement and then, if needed, one more regular attempt, since he’s trying to get his shammy Kingslayer to open up heroic modes for an alt run. I almost told him to go die in a fire, that he has a holy paladin on standby and that I fucking need to sleep.<\/p>\n

But I didn’t, because apparently I wasn’t THAT bitchy last night.<\/p>\n

We fail on Try 4. Why? The same thing. In looking at the logs, I am seriously the only direct healer on the MT. I’m sorry. I cannot heal that much damage, solo. And, because the DPS is explicitly told to stop all DPS on anything, three feral druids decided to do the bear form dance while I’m healing my ass off. EVERYTHING is on cooldown, DP, LOH, DS\/DS, everything, and I say in healer chat (which all hybrids are in) “innervate me please” … and for like, 20 seconds, NOTHING. NOTHING. Then I get two at once.<\/p>\n

So the tank dies in that 20-second span.<\/p>\n

I can’t heal 50k hits for a sustained period of time basically by myself.<\/p>\n

So we fail and we run back to try regular. We’re waiting on a mage.<\/p>\n

Then, in raid chat:<\/p>\n

Failadin: I just got in, isnt everyone in
\nMT: zone out failadin
\nFailadin: hearthing<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So in pally chat:<\/p>\n

Me: You don’t zone in unless you’re in groups 1-5.
\nMe: Ever.
\nFailadin: I was just running in and out because im locked out, didnt mean to get in sorry<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

ARGH. Could he BE any more annoying!?! So that delayed our mage getting in, delaying the start of the attempt to 2:15am. I get VERY cranky if raids don’t end promptly at 2, or if our last attempt isn’t in progress at 2.<\/p>\n

By 2:30, LK was dead and I was furious beyond measure at Failadin, the raid leader, the guild master, basically everyone.<\/p>\n

Failadin said SOMETHING in pally chat about loot as I was getting ready to log off and so I just said:<\/p>\n

STFU about loot. I’m not even kidding.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And then I logged.<\/p>\n

So, like I said. The perfect storm of circumstances to piss me off.<\/p>\n

1) RL friend not there<\/p>\n

2) Healing done poorly because I didn’t step up<\/p>\n

3) Failadin was in the group and talked about loot and loot-related issues for over three hours<\/p>\n

4) Failadin failed at pretty much everything; healed wrong, dropped stacks on Dreamwalker, stole my goddamn portals<\/p>\n

5) Raid leader was a jerk to my RL friend and asked me for a FAVOUR<\/p>\n

6) Guild Master was a jerk to all the healers<\/p>\n

7) Annoying!Priest was annoying and fail<\/p>\n

8) I had a headache<\/p>\n

9) No reliable partner once the good holy pally had to leave<\/p>\n

So tired of this shit. I rant here so that I don’t say things I won’t regret in-game, but we’re getting close to the point where, if things don’t improve, I’m just going to fucking tell them off and tell them all to go to hell and will gquit.<\/p>\n

I’m taking at least one night off this upcoming week. I don’t care what it’ll do to progression. I’m not raiding on Thursday, I’ll raid Wednesday (so I have a chance at the shield and some various other drops) and then take Thursday off.<\/p>\n

I miss raiding with people I like.<\/p>\n
