I just wanted to take this opportunity to point out some truly awesome posts by Lara over at Root and Branch.
A Threat Primer for Beginning Tanks
An Intermediate Guide to Threat
Great little series about threat that’s useful to read regardless of the class you play, in my opinion.
Thank you very much for the kind words, and the links! <3 :)
Lara – My pleasure! I really enjoyed reading the series, even if it wasn’t new information to me. I feel like you explained threat very well, which I think is a bit of an accomplishment. :) Thanks for taking the time to write the posts!
I agree. I was familiar with most of the information there, but there were a few tricky little, well, tricks that I would have never thought of.
An awesome trio of posts. Anyone who hasn’t read them yet should. :)
I’m really glad to hear you say that—especially since it’s not new information to you. When I was first learning how to play the game, I really didn’t understand these things at all, and I had a really hard time because of it. There are lots posts that cover the really nitty-gritty details you need for progression raiding, but I didn’t find a lot of explanations of the really basic things.
Naturally, this really called out to the teacher in me. I just hope it will help someone avoid having to learn all these things the hard way! :)
Will – glad you agree! :)
Lara – I’m sure that there’s a sizable portion of the playing population that has NO IDEA what threat or aggro is. At all. It took me years to understand it as well as you laid it out and you did a great job of explaining it without turning it into War and Peace. With diagrams! I loved the hunter going “Ow! Hey!” by the way. That’s very representationally accurate, as someone who does still play her hunter. ;D
Naturally, this really called out to the teacher in me. I just hope it will help someone avoid having to learn all these things the hard way!
Welcome to why I blog. It’s lovely to see others with the same motivation. :)
