An interesting idea.

If you’ve never raided with me, but you read my blog, you already know that I’m long-winded as all get out.

If you’ve both raided with me and read my blog, you know that I’m not just long-winded as all get out, but that I am very detail-oriented and I use that to go through the logs and pick apart where a raid went wrong.

My RL friend the resto druid told my former raid leader that she thinks I might actually enjoy going through parses more than playing the game itself. Sometimes, I think she has a point. ;)

I had an EPIC-length post that I sent to my RL friend the resto druid and my former raid leader in regards to the Failadin who apped to that guild a couple of months ago. You know, the one who only cast Sacred Shield when he was MCed by Lady Deathwhisper.

I actually sent that post to the other GOOD holy paladin in the guild and he was like “… you should do this for a living.” He also could not believe how bad the pally app was, but anyways. ;)

As I mentioned in a previous post, I’ve sent out a couple of these analyses to the raid leaders and the GM of my current guild, in the hopes of pointing out some issues that they may or may not be aware of, but that I know need to be addressed in order to progress in various encounters. Because they’re SO LONG and SO DETAILED, I’m sure their eyes tend to glaze over. ;)

So my GM snagged me on Vent last night and we had a long chat about going over parses and stuff and we may have found a constructive outlet for my ramblings and my attention to detail and stuff.

It also involves a Cliff’s Notes version of the raid analyses. ;)

Also, in talking to her last night, about all kinds of guild ideal stuff, I realized that, if all goes well with the planning of Apotheosis 2.0, I’m really going to miss my current guild. I know that I’m new, that I’ve only been there for three weeks and that the honeymoon period is still going on, but I honestly really like how things are done and the attitudes of people, for the most part. (I think the biggest issue I might have with the guild is that, as a raiding group, the raiders have an occasional tendency to talk themselves out of being able to do something — they can sometimes think they’re going to fail, so they do. I have thoughts about that, too, because it’s the first time I’ve really encountered that sort of thing. Most guilds I’ve been in have either been too cocky or too stupid to realize they “can’t” get something done. ;))

I feel good that Apotheosis will come back and kick ass in Cataclysm. I really do. But if it doesn’t, I think I have a really good alternative open to me. And hey, if it means I don’t have to be GM? SWEET. ;D

  1. Mailynn – Sure. Whether you want to raid or not, you’re always welcome. :)

Rilgon– I honestly don’t even know what I’m going to play, much less what half the interested people are going to play. :) If you’re around for it and I need DPS, I’ll know where to turn, though. ;)

  2. Kurn – I actually would like to raid, for the first time ever. I only fear that I won’t be “raid ready”. I should go start a toon and work on leveling while I’m interested in playing.

  3. But I might end up rolling one of your all-time favorite classes! You’re gonna LURVE me for it (druid). Ha! Also, if you call me by the other WoW name or even the nano name it’s fine. I’ll respond to it.

  4. Mailynn – it’s tempting, but you chose to use this name here, so I’ll choose to respond to this name. ;) Are you saying you want to heal as a druid in Cataclysm? Also, if you roll one there, shoot me a message on FB or something and I’ll toss you a ginvite, even if I am literally almost never online there.

  5. Kurn – Yes, I’d like to be a healer. It sounds masochistic, but I absolutely love it (healing as a druid). And I will send you a message when I make the toon. I’ll see what sort of names I can get today. ha ha ha!

  6. Does that mean you won’t need another raid heals druid? I’m bringing Al over regardless, because I needs me a miner and an engineer (God I hope they’re useful for something other than toys and ammo come Cata…) but I can’t justify dragging ALL of my alts over. :P

  7. Mailynn – Healing is fun at times. ;) It’s certainly a key role and I know it makes me feel more important than when I DPS. You’d be welcome!

X – I have no idea who or what I need now and probably won’t know until more people have done reading on the beta and the new talents come out, etc, etc. I would imagine we’ll have a really good idea on what we’ll need when 4.0 drops so we can start recruiting appropriately, which is something that screwed us over in Apotheosis in Wrath.

You guys, you realize there’s no way we’ll be able to do NaNo if the three of us are raiding together, right? ;D

  8. Oh man, if only I had a US account. I would so love to join in on the fun. Not that I’m not having fun in my current guild, but I would so love to be chewed out by Kurn for failing in a raid, complete with the 2 page analysis.

I’m sorry if I sound creepy, but I just love reading your stuff Kurn!

For one, I know I’ll stay a Holy paladin for as long as I’ll play WoW. Not just because he’s my only 80, but also because I’m genuinely enthusiastic about the Holy paladin changes come Cataclysm.

  9. Kaboomski – I TEND to be nicer to my guildies when I’m the GM. ;) But there have been several who have been on the receiving end of a “here’s what you’re doing wrong, fix it” PM from me. ;)

I’m not sure that I’ll stay a holy paladin, sadly. I really do love my class, but… I have five other 80s, including my beloved hunter, so I’ll have to wait to see what it’s like in beta. (I am convinced I will be getting in.)

  10. Darling, you know where to find me when/if Apotheosis reforms. YOU KNOW I’M ON THIS TRAIN LIKE WHOA <3

But on to a real comment, I'm sort of in the same situation as you. Aside from..that minor problem I told you about via email, I'm also quite content with my current guild. Sure sometimes I nerdrage all over Twitter (although never on the same scale as our beloved Blueberry ;)) they're amazingly efficient and I've never met so many females in ONE guild who are competent at their classes and not princesses.

  11. X – bwahahaha, as if mine are ever “great”. ;) “Not a piece of crap” is about what I hope for every November.

Stella – haha, I love how this has turned into an Apotheosis recruitment post. ;D

I love a guild with strong women who are competant. Apotheosis was like that. I was the only female officer, but I was officer/GM/RL/healing lead and on any given night… let’s see…

    Me
    L – holy priest
    Q – resto druid
O – ele shammy (the one we recruited after you got away!)
    S – enhance shammy
    C – arcane mage
    D – arcane mage
    L – arcane mage
    K – destro warlock/warlock tank extraordinaire!!!
    P – destro warlock
    A – hunter

That’s eleven women in a single raid. Granted, we probably had some people on standby or whatever, but I was always really proud of having such a strong group of women.

  12. Sham – DAMMIT. You know why? I was looking at the Illidan and Archimonde and Vashj kill shots. And you’re not listed on any of them. :(

    SHAM – ELE SHAMMY/MOONKIN.

    There. ;)

If it makes you feel any better, I DEFINITELY forgot P (warlock), A (hunter), L (mage) too and had to refer to the kill shots to remember them. :(

  13. Apotheosis FTW! I can’t wait. I’m so ready to kick ass again. And yes, we did have a strong core of kickass women players. I loved that.

  14. Hmmm…

Cata is still a bit of a way off…but I know someone that might be looking for a new home.

  15. Osephala – I don’t know how we ended up with 12+ women who were core raiders at some point during BC, but I was really impressed with that, too. It’s just such a male-dominated game sometimes that I want to just hose some guys down with estrogen. :P

R – I swear to God, if all the healers I’ve encountered since I left Apotheosis end up coming TO Apotheosis, we’re just never going to wipe. ;)
